How do I document property condition for an insurance claim?

Photograph the damage before anything is moved, with something in frame that shows where it is, and keep each photo's time; then record what was damaged, when it was found and what was done to stop it getting worse. Your carrier and the policy decide what a claim needs, so ask them early and follow their instructions.

How it works

  • Make the safety calls first: utilities, cordons, emergency services.
  • Walk the property area by area, photographing as found; Sitesui stamps each photo with the time it was taken.
  • Note what was done to prevent more damage, such as a tarp or the water shut off, with photos.
  • Send the repairs as work orders, so the vendor's after photos sit next to the before.
  • Export the report as a PDF, photos included, for the adjuster.

What it doesn't do

  • Sitesui is not an adjuster or a claims service, and it does not say what a policy covers.
  • Photos show what was seen and when; whether that supports a claim is for the carrier.

Pro

Free covers the walk and the PDF; Pro at $19/month adds work orders to vendors.
