Checklist · Short-term rental host

Airbnb deep clean and maintenance checklist

The things the turnover skips, four times a year. Turnovers keep a rental presentable; they do not keep it maintained. Once a quarter something has to look behind the fridge, inside the dryer vent, under the mattress and at the detector's date. This is the built-in quarterly template — the maintenance a good host does that a guest never sees and a review always reflects.

9 items in 7 areas · the built-in “Deep clean & maintenance (quarterly)” template, as it ships

How to run it

Three passes, in walking order

1

Behind and under

Appliances pulled and cleaned behind, dryer vent, range hood filter, drains, under the beds.

2

Soft goods and surfaces

Mattress protectors and pillows, linens inventory, grout and caulk, walls and touch-up paint.

3

Safety and systems

Smoke and CO detectors tested and dated, fire extinguisher, HVAC filter, water heater, exterior and locks, supplies restocked.

The download needs no address. If you'd like one email on the day it's due again, leave it here; that's the only email unless you tick the box.

When not to use it

  • — Between every guest — that is the turnover check.
  • — After a guest damages something — the damage record.

What goes wrong

  • — Testing the detector by looking at the light.
  • — Skipping the dryer vent because it takes tools.

What this is not

A visual walk by whoever manages the property. It is not a licensed, certified, engineering, fire-code or regulatory inspection and does not replace one where the law, the lender, the insurer or the authority having jurisdiction requires it.

Questions

Quarterly deep clean: what people ask

Quarterly for every property?

Quarterly is a sensible default for a rental that turns weekly; a slower property can stretch it. Set the cadence per property in the app.

Can my cleaner run it?

Yes — invite them to the workspace or send the printed list. Their photos land on the same report.

Is the safety section enough?

It is the host's check. Local short-term-rental rules may require specific equipment and inspections; check your jurisdiction and the platform's requirements.
